Illmet planning

Early planning

Cantrips:
- minor telekinesis
(he's missed blue magic and bones for remotely moving things, this is more versatile?? he wouldn't say BETTER, but.)
- create/summon water
(it probably pulls the water from the lake or something)
- create/summon snow
(it's so fluffy, not useful as icicle weapons in the least, but with a bit of time and damp hands he could make a functional - harmless - snowball.)
- freeze water / create ice

Bigger spells:
1 - teleport himself
    (learned from the Whispers)
(he wasn't going to ask Gurges while still sharply scared of the serpent)
(he will be made to regret going to another of the gentry)
? - summoning/directing icicles
not terribly unlike his previous bone magic
(who is he kidding these aren't bones
? - divination - seeing through ice like portals/windows
finally, something to help him scan around quickly for thieves
not unlike the cameras that were set up through the underground
and, not being birds or requiring much change to the tunnels, gurges probably won't mind him setting up bits of ice to various tunnel walls
hopefully. he's making/bringing the materials himself after all

Changes:
- injuries heal as precious metals and minerals instead of bone.
    - fine cracks heal like kintsugi, leaving narrow scars of gold
    - large wounds heal like geodes - slowly filling in as crystal

- appears damp, with water accumulating and freezing on parts of him
probably never this badly, unless there's something going on to make the ice worse
like standing in freezing temperatures for days
ordinarily it only forms on like, the backs of shoulderblades and whatnot, non-joint places. if he were motionless for too like, might freeze in the ice

- ??

NOTES ON CHANGES
By the end of the first IC month (two OOC months), they should have at least THREE minor physical changes.

Anything after that is optional, pick anything - physical or mental - that fits within their season

MAJOR changes are slower: the first would only come by the third IC month (fifth in game), with an additional TWO MONTHS IC per additional major change

so don't even look at major changes yet.

Suggested Winter Minor Changes:
Changes related to sea mammals, fish, reptiles, and amphibians, scales, needle teeth, multiple eyes, ice, water, the sea, drowned appearance, webbed fingers and toes,
but also treasure-related, gold, silver, and gems,
as well as a tendency towards fin-like ears.
Tends towards cold, dark colors.
May gain a drowned aura, will always appear damp and feel clammy to the touch.

Mental changes include:
an urge to hoard an item type of choice,
pronounced talking to one's self,
a dislike of the sun or being outside,
and a longing to be in the water.

holy shit lol and papyrus already monologues, he's going to be insufferable

i do not want to commit to the skeleton growing animal bits just yet, so
- gems and metals: any and all damage scarring as geodes or kintsugi?
- ice: ice growths?
- drowned appearance: barnacles?

tho. the idea of him growing scales and fins and starting to look like an undyne zombie is hilariously sad, and well worth considering.

suggestions:
- coral or algae
- bioluminescence
- water filling his ribcage, like a floating fishbowl
- multiple eyes, the better to see thieves

And keeping the old thoughts here for record-keeping:
Spring
straight up necrobotany,

all my favorite plant and fungi skeleton aesthetic. be it twining in between them with roots slowing digging in and cracking and replacing them, or growing out from the bones like the fungi in that one zombie!Karkat fic, or what

- flowering vine prosthetics, visual reference for replacing some of his bones

- Everything Is Alright by Roachpatrol, ref for fungi/plant growing from a person notions

Summer
undecided
- antlers are pretty cool
- i've done werewoof, but hey, the design's still good and usable
- i've done coated in metal with warm-colored crystals, but hey, that design still exists too

Autumn
IT'S HALLOWEEN BABY

those plastic skeleton spiders, with varying levels of ridiculousness

spiderwebs all through him - like in his ribcage, or his eyesockets, or even inside his broken skull

absolutely with the writing and secrets

Winter
undecided. seems like the theme is Gollum, but he's already a skeleton from underground.... ice stuff is an option,

- skeleton with ice growths

body harm options:
- intense hoarding of shinies + just fucking jamming the gems into his bones, he's technically dust anyway.
- damage to him heals over as crystals, like geode skulls
