Imaginary Island - Dog information

Dog

As a warlock, Papyrus gets a familiar, an animal-shaped companion and assistant.

For reasons, this familiar takes the shape of a small white dog - something like a Japanese Spitz, in between a Pomeranian and a Samoyed, with an extreme resemblance to a certain annoying dog that Papyrus has yet to remember. (Maybe it's the same dog, but probably not).

'Dog' notes:

  • Thus far, the dog is unspecified in name or gender - the dog hasn't offered this information, and Papyrus hasn't asked, and the dog hasn't protested Papyrus using 'it' and 'dog' as forms of address. The narration will reflect this as long as this remains the case.
  • Being a familiar, the dog is slightly an embodiment of the pact between Papyrus and Larloch, and somewhat aware of the lich's intentions and agendas. Specifically, while the dog is here to help Papyrus out, the dog is also here to spy on him and everything going on with the Reclaimers. As such, the dog is perfectly willing to keep some secrets and make deals behind Papyrus' back.
  • The dog is also eager to steal and hoard bones, as being a canine-shaped embodiment of the power given by a lich to a skeleton leads it to the motto "with bones come power."
  • (Being specifically and intentionally inspired by the Annoying Dog in Undertale, the dog is going to occasionally harass and frazzle Papyrus in ways entertaining to me.)

Game mechanics: Warlock familiar notes:
  • Requires 1 hour meditating in front of a candle to summon it
  • Has only one form, which could be a large creature (though not large enough for the warlock to ride)
  • Doesn't require nourishment or sleep to survive
  • Is susceptible to damage, and can easily be destroyed
  • If familiar is destroyed, warlock feels it - whether as mental awareness, pain, or something else - and suffers from moderate fatigue as a result
  • When within 30 feet of their warlock, the warlock CAN see through its eyes
  • Can turn invisible for up to ten minutes a day
